Slide Fan to Hanger

여름이 되면 내리쬐는 햇빛에 노출되는 살갗을 보호하기 위해서 얇은 겉옷을 걸치는 사람들을 발견할 수 있다. 햇빛이 없는 실내로 들어왔을 때는 겉옷을 벗어 보관한다. 이러한 행동 패턴에서 착안하여 Slide fan to hanger를 디자인하였다. 부채에서 옷걸이로 변환할 때 결합하는 부분은 목재를 이용한 짜맞춤 방식 중 단단한 결합을 목적으로 하는 슬라이딩 주먹장 짜임 방식을 적용하였다. Slide fan to hanger는 부채와 옷걸이, 두 가지 기능을 사용자 중심적 이해를 바탕으로 풀어낸 디자인이다.

In summer, you can find people wearing thin jackets to protect their skin in the sun. When entering a sunless room, take off your jacket and store it. With this pattern of behavior in mind, I designed the Slide fan hanger. When converting from a fan to a hanger, a sliding fist combination method aimed at hard combination among the combination methods using wood was applied. Slide fan hanger is a design that unravels two functions based on a user-centered understanding.

부채의 다양한 형태 구조를 스케치해 보았다. 그중 부채에서 옷걸이로 변환하는 과정에 있어서 가운데 부챗살의 끝부분에 달린 고리가 가장 중요한 요소였다. 부채와 어울리면서도 제 기능을 다하기 위한 형태를 찾기 위해 여러 가지 고리 형태 스케치를 진행하였다. 하지만 고리 형태는 부피적 한계 때문에 결합 형식으로 방향성을 바꾸었다. 그 결과 산업적 결합 방식인 볼트와 너트 결합 방식과 전통적 결합 방식인 짜맞춤 방식을 혼합하여 사용하는 방식을 채택하게 되었다.

I sketched the various morphological structures of the fan. Among them, the ring at the tip of the middle fan was the most important factor in the process of converting from a fan to a hanger. Various ring-shaped sketches were made to find shapes that harmonize with fans but perform their original functions. However, the shape of the ring changed direction to a binding form due to its volume limitations. As a result, it adopted a method of mixing the industrial coupling method of bolts and nuts and the traditional coupling method of combination.
